Online video + social networking = Lycos's desperation to gain foothold in web 2.0
Lycos has recently launched the site, "Lycos Cinema," to allow people to connect with friends while watching online video. Although this site has similar features with the immensely popular YouTube, the nice add-on for Lycos Cinema is that it enables users to chat with each other real-time while watching the video. Many of these videos are full length features (often at least an hour or two long), so it's almost watching a movie with your friends only virtually.This site is still in beta stages, but Lycos may be on to something here.
